How We Review and Compare Software
At SoftwareSynced, we have one job: help you choose the right tool without wasting money on the wrong one.
That means being honest about what software does well, where it falls short, and who it is actually built for — not who the vendor claims it is built for. Here is exactly how we work.
We Are Independent
SoftwareSynced is not owned by, funded by, or affiliated with any software vendor. No company pays us to feature their product, rank them higher, or write a positive review. Our editorial decisions are made entirely by our team.
Our articles don’t contain any affiliate links. The commission never influences which tool we recommend or how we assess it. If a tool is not the right fit, we say so — regardless of whether an affiliate programme exists.
How We Assess Tools
Every review and comparison on SoftwareSynced is built on the same six criteria: pricing and real value (including hidden costs and how pricing scales), core features versus what is actually gated behind higher tiers, and how well each tool integrates with the platforms our readers use — Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce among them.
We also assess realistic ease of use for a small business owner without a dedicated technical team, what support is available on each plan, and reliability. A powerful tool that takes months to master is not equally useful to one that delivers 80% of the results on day one.
The section most review sites skip is trade-offs — and it is the one we take most seriously. Every tool has weaknesses. We state them plainly, including a clear note on who should not choose each tool. A recommendation without stated trade-offs is an advertisement, not a review.
How We Use Data
Where available, we reference independently verified data — Capterra and G2 ratings, third-party audit results, published pricing verified against official pages, and independent benchmark studies. We state the source and date of any specific figures we cite.
We do not fabricate test results or invent user feedback. If we have not tested something directly, we say so and rely on verified third-party sources.
Pricing changes frequently. We include a last updated date on every article and review our most-read pages regularly to ensure pricing figures remain accurate.
Corrections and Updates
If you spot an error — a pricing figure that has changed, a feature that has been added or removed, or a factual mistake — please contact us. We take accuracy seriously and will correct errors promptly with a note on the relevant page.
